I dreamed that the whole of Kuching was flooded very badly, all the way up to the tree branches. The only thing that I saved to survive the flood was a packet of hi-fiber Jacob crackers and "A Walk To Remember" by Nicholas Sparks that Perry gave me for my birthday last year.

Amy Lynette says that it is a bad omen to dream about floods.

I also dreamed that I went to a candy store which sold pumpkin yogurt drink. There were lots of purple, pink, green, orange and blue candy, ice cream and yogurt. They also sold slippers from Africa in there.

I think that is the effect of me not taking any junk food for nine days? Healthy me.

I crave for a Pepsi now actually but then, I hate carbonated drinks. I'm healthy so I'll take a 100 Plus.

Promoters, Speakers, All Rubbish

Nine students from some college in Wales visited Saint Teresa's Secondary last Thursday. One of them claimed that Asians do not have any common sense. How interesting. Then, one of the officials from the college started promoting Cardiff Sixth Form College. Apparently, they offer 100% paid scholarships but with a rental of either seventy or seven (I forgot) pounds for boarding.

I personally think it is quite stupid to get a scholarship that only pays for your A Levels. After you finish your A Levels, where are you going to get the pounds to pay your university fees. Studying in England costs a bomb. Not that you can leave England after all, British A Levels syllabus are different. Sure enough if you are smart and lucky enough, some university in England might offer you another scholarship. If not, doomed lah. Stuck in the middle of no where.

They were promoting medicine at England. Claimed that United Kingdom is the best place to do medicine and that Cardiff Sixth Form College offers A Levels for medicine. Funny thing is that Cardiff is at the bottom of the list of top colleges or university in the world. I did plenty of research at different rank pages. Moscow State University is a better pick for medicine, cheaper and higher ranked. Not a very classy place, of course compared to other European countries. Click to see.

I have no respect at all for these college and university promoters that come to Saint Teresa's Secondary to promote their university. Business scams. All nonsense. They talk about the courses they offer, how good their university is and not about the course itself. I see no point in listening to all these nonsense from all these speakers because I don't see how the long speech about University/College X helps me to decide if I want to be this or that.

There was only one speaker I came across, some man with a PhD from Swinburne, that didn't talk rubbish. Why? Because he was the one and only speaker that ever came to our school who actually explained about courses and did not even mention a thing about the university he represented. That one did get my respect.

Friday, 27th of June 2008 is a day to remember. There was a TOM YAM SOUP flinging war between THAT FORM 3A1 GIRL WHO CLAIMED THAT FAITH IN GODS IS FOR THE STUPID and another student/victim, whom a teacher claimed, should have won the "Budiman Award", whatever award that is, for splashing back.

I suppose that THAT FORM 3A1 GIRL is in hot water. Apparently, a teacher heard about her blog, went online to read it and was infuriated. So, she made copies of the posts with all those senseless criticisms and handed them out to the other teachers in the staffroom. A first class source told me that the teachers were not very happy at all.

I say, GREAT.

Performing arts goes with the words passion and delight. Uninteresting how Malaysia does not offer much prospect in that field unless you are willing to endure minimum wages of RM500.00 a month and sell burgers by the roadside to earn extra income. One of the people I know, is interested to pursue a career in acting. Who knows one day, some movie hits the Hollywood big screen and I could go, "Hey! I used to go to tuition with that actor!"

I finally watched "Take The Lead" staring Antonio Banderas on HBO Channel and I especially loved the ballroom dance parts. It was a 2006 release. I like classical dance not so much of modern dance. Unfortunately, I think I got five left feet or maybe those I call feet are actually hooves.

Unzipped is Hip

Teachers in Saint Teresa's All Girls Secondary School have suddenly leveled into this new psychological method of getting the girls' to zip up their pinafores by teasing to imply that the girls are too fat until they can no longer zip their pinafores up especially if their pinafores are far too small for their bodies.

"Eh, cannot zip your pinafore is it? Must be you ate too much chocolates during the holidays."

I don't understand why some of the students refuse to zip up their pinafores. Some of them think it's really cool to walk around with an unzipped pinafore. I mean, what would happen if this "don't zip means cool" fashion spreads over to Saint Joseph's Secondary, an all boys school? Would unzipped school trousers be considered the new cool?

Update

Went to Carpenter Street. Best place to get interesting jewelry especially at Treen Gallery, what a bargain. Beats those plastic Ah Lian styled necklaces sold at The Spring for almost quadruple the price. My dad came back from traveling this morning, as usual he brought back brownies and candy. U-n-h-e-a-l-t-h-y.

Went over to The Spring to hunt for another pair of Levis, a treat from dad for coming in 2nd (I'm singing quite happy, happy, happy) for exam. Unfortunately, Levis jeans-hunting can be quite a challenge. I'll probably have to go through fifty pairs of jeans before I find one I like and fits well. Stocked up on oats and cranberries too.

Hitched a ride from Perry yesterday evening. Some crazy human just got into the backseat, refused to get out and later posted about it. Eventually he got out of the car after making Perry's driver wait for ages. No comments on that incident.

Anyway, a conversation happened in class a couple of days ago... quite a gruesome one too.

Biography

Anastacia Newkirk was born September 17, 1973, in New York to a Broadway actress mother and father who was a singer on the East Coast. Her talent and desire for being a performer was not only in her genes, but helped her embrace the form of expression and passion that being an artist entails.

She claims that as a young girl she didn't want to be a singer, but her future career was foreshadowed by Anastacia singing along to her mother's Barbra Streisand and Elton John records and exercising her writing skills by trying her hand at poetry.

Safety-Thon Donation Cards

I dreamed that Aizat became some multi-millionaire. He paid for an all-expenses paid trip to some resort for the scouts. There, he paid Bruce and Stefan to be his servants for RM0.20 per hour to set up pool umbrellas.

Assembly lasted for ages today. So noisy as usual. I sat on the grubby cement floor of the school hall as an old retiree as the hot sun burned out my retinas. The principal droned on and on about the school's latest fund raiser project, donation cards. Apparently, the goal was to target a minimum of RM40.00 per class so that repair work can be done on the hall roof of the school.

Somehow, as much or as little Teresian spirit I have, a gut feeling tells me that this project won't be as successful as the school would have preferred. Majority will take one look at the donation card and think twice on why should they donate hundreds of dollars for the school to repair work. Donation cards from charity drives or religious bodies probably would have gotten more support as the word "charity" and "religion" usually catches plenty of sympathy.

As for a school to ask for donation for repair work, most people would have the mentality that their children are not even in the school, so why should they bother to donate. As for those who are generous at heart and well-off, they would probably donate at least RM50.00. Whereas for those who just donate because simply they were asked to, they'll chuck a dollar or two at you just so that you would stop bothering them.

Donation cards require less preparation compared to twice-a-year food and fun fair fund-raiser project but fair tickets sell off like hot cakes and money comes in like water.

God said be grateful but I am thinking...Boohoo! I should have studied way harder so that I might touch 95% instead of spending hours and hours watching television. All I learned from the television was the Discovery Channel said that men will face extinction in many centuries to come. Sadly, that piece of knowledge did not help me at all in my examination.

School is starting tomorrow. I am so excited to wake up at 5.30AM every weekday morning and endure the horribleness of a shower so early in the morning yet when all the roosters and hens are still asleep in their coop. Don't get me wrong, sarcasm was intended in the previous statement about my excitement.

I have been sleeping at 5.30AM and getting up at 12.00PM everyday during the school holidays. Those are signs of abnormalities in my sleeping patterns. Nocturnal. Tonight, I am going to have to adjust my sleeping hours to 12.00AM to 5.30AM. I hate sleeping but I hate waking up. The irony.

Booo.

Marketing Saturday

Had a family dinner at night, it was my grandfather's birthday.

I had laksa from Thompson Corner too this morning after following my dad to Sunday Market. Sunday Market in Kuching is probably one of the most interesting places to go to. All the animal innards sprawled across tables, all slimy, bloody and with flies buzzing around. The most interesting scene is probably where they dangle large, oggling-eyed cow heads on large metal hooks. The vegetables section are not so interesting to look at.
