Braces! Again??

Image55Braces for the second time again? Retainers?
Nooooooooooooooooo~ I sure hope not!

I went for my routine scaling appointment with my dentist. The whirling sound of all dental appliances and the sound of metal against teeth, I can still hear it all.

She told me that the gaps (approximately 3mm on the right upper jaw and 2mm on the left side)between my upper canine and first molar (due to extraction of two of my first molar so that I could have braces put on by my another orthodontist) will probably not close up naturally on its own over the years.

Dentist: You had two upper molars and one lower incisor removed?
Me: Yeap. So that I could have my braces put on.
Dentist: You realized you have gaps?
Me: My orthodontist says they will close up naturally on their own over the years.
Dentist: Well they probably wouldn’t.

Dang! They won’t??

Something my orthodontist told me about the human body naturally filling in gaps between the teeth. Well that happened to the gap between my lower incisors when I had one incisor removed before I had braces fitted on. They sort of naturally realigned themselves until there was a 1mm gap then my orthodontist fitted the braces on and braces I had.

I shall have my mum call up my orthodontist next week and see what he says again regarding the progress of my teeth.

Is he going to tell me it will close up on its’ own after *inserts period of time* or fit braces/retainers onto my teeth for the second time? Ugh.

The only fun part about getting braces was the fun of choosing new band colours each time they replaced the old bands.

I once had Petronas green bands.

Nurse: I have Petronas green bands for you today! See?? *big cheery smile*
Me: =S

Post Christmas

Nothing interesting has happened since Christmas…23122009385Got a mini version of mini donkey from Perry after his Singapore trip. Looks like big brother donkey and little brother donkey or perhaps big donkey sprouted a son.

26th December 2009
Slept until 11.30AM in the morning despite the fact that Perry was going to pick me at 12.00PM.

Went to Aaron George’s Christmas party (which thankfully got postponed to the evening) and found out how much guys younger than me ate and how much the Tan brothers ate particularly the eldest two. Shocking but the shock passes. I probably ate like a cat in comparison.
23122009386Got an Albert Einstein inspired notebook from MPH.

27th December 2009
Had Foochow noodles for breakfast/lunch with fancy huge prawns.jakar big prawn meeThen lots of bling fell off my 1 month old RM83.00 Santa Barbara slippers. Darn. I could almost smell the scent of money and my hair burning. Scrummy slippers. Tossed them aside to get them customised to look presentable again and grumpily “enjoyed” getting a new pair from Charles and Keith.27122009401  More bling!

Dad cooked vegetable chicken curry for dinner.curry_soup

28th December 2009:
siew mai1I had two siew mai for breakfast before sleeping in the bank while waiting for the long queue ahead of me to pass. I despise going to the bank and I still like my granola bars better.
MCD-p …and I had a quarter of a beef prosperity burger from McDonald’s. Never been quite a beef-eater but woohoo to a supposedly prosperous 2010. I had a prosperity burger in 2009 and I got straight A1s for SPM in 2009. See the connection? *har har*

All the food, all the calories, thank God I am still 52kg and aha! I have grown 1cm this year but I quite believe that it is just parallax error with the measuring tape.

Now counting down to watch Holmes tomorrow with P and New Year countdown party with the old ones.

Grinch-ing

Christmas!

But this year I just don’t seem to feel any Christmas mood.

Just to be a Grinch, I added random grumpy photos taken on Christmas Eve.
IMG_7494 IMG_7501Oh man, I only have one week left in Kuching before heading back to resume my studies!

But, MERRY CHRISTMAS people!

Eve of Christmas

Aha! Merry merry merry Christmas Eve or maybe not so merry since I am pretty sure the postman will visit me today. Results, results, results!

I am in a state of reality denial again.

Faint Hearted

I nearly had a heart attack today.

…and it certainly was not from my results.

Reality Denial

I refuse, refuse, refuse, refuse, refuse, refuse to face reality tomorrow! I am going to sleep the day in and ignore the postman when he comes by to drop my examination results into my letter box. I REFUSE!

Har… har… har…

Like as if any of that is going to happen. I am a bundle of nerves at the moment. I know I screwed up Physics and Chemistry.

*reads Chemistry paper instructions*… aha, 3 significant figures. Okay. *scribbles down answer in 3 decimal places*

Not just one answer but THE WHOLE PAPER.

Time to face reality, Gab.

I REFUSE!!!

Did I even mention about my Physics?? Warghhh. How could I have missed that HUGE resistor??? There goes I don’t know, 30marks?? I bet my housemate enjoyed her evening nap that day when I was busy yelling at the wall.

Oh man. I hate suspense!

I hate not receiving the letter yet unlike my West Malaysian friends but at the same time, I hate the fact that I am going to receive the letter. This is like so… what the heck.

Okay… mission prepare myself for the harshest possible marks.

“Diet”, Mission 25kg

Gabrielle: I’m going to stay as thin as now when I am 40 years old.
Franklin: Hahaha. Sis, that is like impossible okay. You’re going to grow old and fat.

I shall grow old gracefully.

My plausible husband shall live on tofu and raw greens. We shall snack on celery sticks as a substitute for onion and sour cream flavoured Pringles.

We shall have breakfast of alfalfa sprout sandwiches…PFO2948 A green apple for lunch…
crispy-apple-chips-sliced And green salad for dinner…Green_Salad We’ll both be 80 years old with six packs.

I shall die on a diet like that and probably weigh 25kg at 5 feet 6 inches tall.

Robin’s Egg Blue Look

Disaster struck and as Hansley The Raisin calls it, my “girly pink theme” has vanished. It was the wee hours of the morning, I was tweaking around with my blog and poof! My blog margins went haywire. Sucks.
A_Robin__s_Gems_by_RajialSo since Christmas is coming and robin’s egg blue is a nice colour (the bird eggs are literally blue, no Photoshop tricks done), I gave my blog a facelift. It has been quite a while since I last gave it a facelift but here it is, all geared up for Christmas.Untitled Suffering from insomnia, I had my breakfast of blueberry pancakes and green tea at 2.00AM and settled down to tweak my blog layout since then until now.

I have decided to take up a part time job to earn some extra cash (gives me the allowance to be more spendthrift *har har har*) but being a sloth, I turned to Nuffnang. The verdict? Definitely a fast way to earn sufficient cash to buy a bowl of laksa everyday but unfortunately not diamonds (in my case).287503644_ef2853da83_o

Cash For Food

When people go off to Kuala Lumpur to study, some would say:
”THERE IS NOTHING TO EAT IN KL! I AM GOING TO STARVE TO DEATH!”

Unfortunately, with the existence of TGI Friday’s all over Kuala Lumpur and greasy mamak food everywhere, gaining five kilograms is easier than losing five kilograms. Thankfully, I remained at my plateau of forever fluctuating 50-53kg range.

There are heaps of food options but in my opinion, nothing tastes exceptionally good even though the price is “exceptionally good” as well. 090330_4I have always been a Chinese food person. Western food has too much meat for my liking. So, I went to this Hakka cuisine in Sunway Pyramid and had a plate of lei cha fried rice, a plate of yam with mushrooms, a cup of green tea and a little bowl of dragon fruit dessert. The bill bore a hole in my pocket with RM50.00 just for my one meal. Pricey. It didn’t even taste good.

My last trip to Dragon-i with some of my course mates, lead to another RM50.00 meal for a plate of fried rice, a plate of fried spinach and a glass of sea coconut drink.

I realized that most of my money spent in Kuala Lumpur goes to food. My weekly grocery shopping would total up to almost RM100 no matter how I try throw out the unnecessary junk from my shopping list. What do I even buy?

4 types of organic vegetables (RM10.00)
1 packet of chicken lean meat (RM10.00)
2 bottles of prune juice (RM40.00)
2 boxes of granola bars (RM20.00)
2 packets of kiwi fruits (RM20.00)

My necessities already total up to about RM100. Talk about trying to save.

I dare not total up the amount that I have spent for the past six months studying in Kuala Lumpur and I dare not think of the amount that I could plausibly spend if shipped off to New Zealand. Ugh.

I should grow a money tree.

They Kidnapped Him…

Time to highlight on the fateful incident that happened to me about two months ago…

I was happily shopping in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, gorgeous tops and awesome shoes. I heart Pavilion. But let’s get on to the point.

My mum called and I answered. I hung up, placed my Nokia N95 8GB back into the front pocket of my skinny Levi’s jeans. Note that skinny jeans are f-i-t-t-i-n-g. Five minutes later while I was walking through the food court in Pavilion, I reached into my front pocket to retrieve my phone to text message my mum.

First word registered in my head: SHIT!

Next sentence registered in my head: WHERE IS MY PHONE?!

And that is the story of how my loyal N95 got stolen.

So here is an eulogy to my late N95:

1. Bravely survived all those bruises, bumps and fractures each time I accidentally dropped it onto the floor particularly one time when it slipped out of my clutch, flew across the room and smashed into the wall.
2. Endured all receiving and sending 200 text messages a day. Blame Perry.
3. My pocket comfort and companion during SPM 2008.

To take its place is its brother, the Nokia N97. Fragile looking thing.n97_videoThe irony of all these is that it was stolen in a place like Pavilion where they sell Coach handbags and Calvin Klein suits not Chee Cheong Kai or the train stations (how is that even spelt?) where we hear horror stories of pickpockets lurking among the crowd.

Then again, there are more expensive things to steal in Pavilion (fat wallets) compared to Chee Cheong Kai where one can steal phoney Nike goods worth RM5. But it is probably easier to thieve in Chee Cheong Kai than in Pavilion.

Curses to whoever that bloody person who currently has my N95 8GB.

Note: I am still using my old Celcom number.

Productivity 101

Shit.
My holidays are ending.
16 days remaining.
Time to get productive.

It was a good waste of RM180.00 paid for excess baggage at the airport just to bring some of my reference books and notes to flip through during the holidays. Nearly three weeks have passed and...

Me: *while playing computer games* I didn't study today! Oh no!
Dad: Correction. You didn't study for three weeks.

But hey I was productive in other ways. I slept twelve hours each day, watched TV all day long while multitasking. God help me. (-_-)'

I have been banned from baking after my pie multiplication incident when "I am going to bake ONE pie" turned into "shit! I accidentally made FIVE pies".

Off to watch Avatar with Rhema and Aaron later. I will be playing driver. Laziness strikes at the thought of driving later but then again, nobody is going to drive me around. Science and technology ought to come up with the invention of teleportation turned reality.

Note: One more week of Singapore-ness. Bummer.

Lifetime of Studying

Note: =( At Singapore. Unfair!

I can't believe that nearly three weeks of my semester break has passed. It certainly was not three very productive weeks. I am yet to sit down and touch my notes. Goodness. To think of it, WACE exam is just eleven months away. It is like SPM all over again.

I have spent the past eighteen years of my life studying, now I am going to be spending another year doing AUSMAT, plausibly seven years doing medicine in New Zealand and goodness knows how many more years studying to be a specialist. That grand totals up to at least fifteen years of studying.

Books, books, books and more books.
I shall now convince myself that I am doing all these for a better, brighter future so that I can earn money to feed myself and shop for expensive leather handbags without leeching off my dad's bank account. I shall also convince myself that this is studying for a good cause. Damn. I should be a shrink.

I cannot wait to be 60 years old and retired.

Year End Highlights

Met up with my boyfriend after a year apart with him being in Australia. One rather bumpy year in fact, big fight, broke up, got back together. Cliche but let's just ignore that. It's nice having him back anyway. So happened when he dropped by, I was on a baking frenzy with my sister. My mission was to bake ONE pie but I overestimated and ended up with FIVE pies. Charity-ed some pies off.
Jewelry for Christmas from him and finally the novel for my birthday. Nicholas Sparks writes interesting stories.
Oh and first semester at college ended. I am most certainly happy about that, finally rest and relax. Not to forget, home sweet home! Oh, throw in the home cook food as well. Woohoo!

A lot of interesting events happened in college. Spent my last two days in KL shopping.
Went shopping with two of my housemates, Fergie and Felicia at Sunway Pyramid. I discovered Cleo magazines cost only RM5.60 in West Malaysia and RM9.90 in East Malaysia! Bought a copy to read during my flight.

Then joined three of my guy classmates to Mid Valley and The Gardens. Shopping, one of my passions besides music.

My roommate moved to an on-campus condominium due to convenience. Now I have the whole room to myself and two Slumberland mattresses.
A few other interesting things happened in college this semester,
1. I acted as an old lady who was wife to an Aboriginal man in a play.
2. I took the role of a food engineer working in Ayamas during a forum regarding vegetarianism.
3. One of my classmates, Peter bought a Christmas tree. ^_^
It definitely feels good to be home. I am yet to meet up with some of my former schoolmates and an old friend from Lodge. Met up with Jonas and Stefan for sushi at Sushi King and coffee at Starbucks and Twilight which, WE ENDED UP NOT WATCHING. Hmf indeed.
Went with my family to Damai Puri Spa and Resort last Saturday, turned a few shades darker due to long hours spent on the beach and in the pool plus, bigger eye bags from hours up in the lounge.

While I was out with Perry on Monday, some horrible driver in front of me came sliding backwards down the car park slope. Thank goodness I didn't drive right into his car or his car crashed backwards into mine. Ugh. He caused me to reverse and the car behind me to reverse.

I ran into my first victim today while driving. It was horrible. It was a dustbin. It all happened while I was parking into my house garage and...he laughed. Cheers *sarcasm intended*.

Additional information: Someone abandoned me to go off to Singapore tomorrow and won't be back until Christmas Eve. Now that sucks.
